Any student enrolled at Henderson State University or other area college is eligible to apply for accommodation at Whispering Oaks, including research assistants and full-time, part-time, undergraduate, postgraduate students, and faculty.

There is a strict no pets policy at Whispering Oaks. This includes goldfish and birds.

The Village hosts a diverse range of residents from all over the world and across the United States, and we see this as a true strength of our community. To ensure fairness, we don't give preference to any group over others. Therefore we encourage all applicants to submit the relevant forms as early as possible to avoid disappointment.

At Whispering Oaks all gas and water utilities are included in the contract value. Each unit also gets an allowance toward the electricity which varies depending on which type of unit you choose.

Yes! Freshmen are welcome at Whispering Oaks. The university requires all students with less than 60 hours who reside more than 60 miles from campus to live on-campus. Only the residence halls and Whispering Oaks qualify as on-campus housing.

If you'd like to share an apartment with a friend, please specify this on your roommate matching form. Given our high demand, we can't guarantee to fulfill all requests, but we'll definitely try our best to accommodate you.

The earlier you and your friend apply, the easier it is for us to assign you to the same apartment.

Whispering Oaks allows all residents to have a vehicle free of charge and institutes a parking permit system through the Univeristy parking decal. There is ample parking throughout the property. All vehicles will be registered in order to receive a parking permit as a Whispering Oaks resident.

Any financial aid that is refundable to you can be used to pay for housing at Whispering Oaks. Contact the Financial Aid office at the university to discuss the types of aid you are receiving.

We do provide a roommate matching service at Whispering Oaks. Please fill out the roommate matching form and submit it to our offices in order to take advantage of this free service.

Yes, the Henderson State University campus where Whispering Oaks is located is a wi-fi community.

Whispering Oaks is located on Huddleston Street next to the university’s new Student Recreation Center off 10th St. It takes approximately 5 minutes to walk to the Bookstore and just 10 minutes to walk to the university football field.

Whispering Oaks offers Full 12-month leases, Academic 9-month leases, 7-month Spring/Summer leases, 4-month Spring leases, and 3-month Summer leases.

You may supplement the furniture that comes in the apartment but you may not remove any of the furniture provided to you by Whispering Oaks.

As a resident if you have maintenance request you can call the office at 870.230.5070 to provide your name, unit number, request, and call back number or you can file a maintenance request online through your resident portal. In the event of an emergency after hours call the RA cell phone at 870.403.7455.

At Whispering Oaks each resident is responsible only for their own lease. In the event a resident leaves before the term ends, the vacant unit can be leased by another student.
